Dr. Kacey Oiness

Dr. Kacey Oiness is a licensed counseling psychologist, who specializes in sport and performance psychology. She serves as the sport psychologist for UNLV Athletics. She specializes in the treatment of mental health within the collegiate athlete population, as well as performance enhancement and mental skills training. 

Prior to joining the UNLV Athletics Department, Dr. Oiness served as the Director of Sport Psychology at Purdue University. Additionally, she served as a sport psychologist at St.Vincent Sports Performance in Indianapolis; in this role she consulted with the Purdue University Athletics Department, Butler Athletics Department, and the Indiana Fever. She also worked with individual athletes and teams of all ages and calibers – youth, high school, collegiate and elite – at SVSP. 

 

Prior to joining SVSP in 2014, Dr. Oiness served as the Assistant Director of Psychological Resources for the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department, consulting with athletes, teams, coaches, team physicians and athletic trainers. She also served as the training director for pre-doctoral interns and provided supervision to the post-doctoral fellow. 

Dr. Oiness earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Oklahoma Health Consortium with rotations in the Athletics Department and the University Counseling Center. Dr. Oiness then completed her post-doctoral fellowship working full-time in the University of Oklahoma’s Athletics Department. Prior, she earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Colorado State University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Iowa State University, where she competed on the women’s gymnastics team. She continues to remain active through her passion for running and participating in half-marathons.
